Y5: Wonder

Teacher reading book to class

by R. J. Palacio

In 5JCS we are currently reading Wonder by R. J. Palacio.

“You can’t blend in, when you are born to stand out. My name is August. I won’t describe what I look like.

Whatever you’re thinking, it’s probably worse.” Nawal says, “I think this book is a really good book so far. It is all about a boy called August who has a genetic disorder which mostly affects his face. I really like this

book because at first, August was really nervous and now he’s made friends and does not care what people think about his face. I give this book 4.7 stars out of 5.” Hugo says, “I am enjoying this book. It is about a boy called August who gets bullied at school because of his face. He does make some friends that are really kind to him. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.”

Harper says, “I love Wonder. It is a great confidence booster. It’s about a boy with a poorly face who’s been home schooled but he has to go to real school. He is nervous at first but he gains some really good friends.”
