In Reception, we have been reading the story Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson.
It's about some sea creatures that learn all about sharing. The creatures happily share a seashell and it provides them with protection from the seagulls who may wish to eat them! It provides the creatures with a home to share and they all work together.
The book rhymes and has lots of new language to explore. It also has mathematical links and opens up discussion about the concept of adding one more to a number.
"My favourite character is the bristle worm, he likes to clean the shell," says Kyren.
"The seagull tries to eat the crab but he runs away and finds a shell to hide in," says Lilia.
"I really like the book because I like the characters, I like the angry fish and the glitter on all the pages," says Bonnie.
We give this book a 10/10 because all of the children have enjoyed it. We really liked learning all about the sea creatures, there are some new and interesting creatures in the book to explore.
