Our DEAR Time book is called Wonder. This story is about a little boy called August Pullman, who is born with severe facial differences. Our story begins when August begins middle school, taking us through his first year at Beecher Prep. August meets many new children, some who are kind and unfortunately some who aren’t. The story is told from various perspectives of people in August’s life.
As a class, we have really enjoyed reading this story as it has made us feel a range of emotions, such as happiness, sadness and anger towards how people treat August throughout this story.
“I really enjoy this book and hope that children learn to treat Auggie like a normal child,” Sophia said.
“Some of the children are really mean to August, I hope he makes some proper friends!” said Isabella.
